Love

Dr. Warren W. Wiersbe | December 25, 1977

Selected highlights from this sermon

Too often we judge God’s love based on human standards and experiences. But God’s love is greater and deeper than anything we can imagine. Jesus came to Earth to prove how much God loves us.

Life is a school, and the greatest lesson we can learn is how to love.

Transcripts for Dr. Wiersbe's sermons are forthcoming. Below is an outline of his message.

Jesus was manifested that He might prove the love of God.

We must grow in our experience of God’s love.

Four basic lessons about love:

  • What God is: love (7-8,16).
    • We have to know what God is if we are going to relate to Him.
    • God loves even when we don’t love Him back.
    • God by His very nature is love.
  • What God did: sent His son (9-10).
    • If worldly gain means God loves you, then there are a lot of people God doesn’t love.
    • We judge the love of God on human levels.
    • We know God loves us because He sent us His Son.
  • What God is doing: He dwells (11-18).
    • He gave us the Holy Spirit to live in us.
    • God wants to mature us into an adult love.
    • God’s love is perfected in us by abiding in Him.
    • If we are living in love, people will see God in us.
  • What God wants us to do: share His love (19-21).
    • We don’t live in fear of anything.
    • Love is coming alongside of someone where they are.
    • Too many people substitute words for deeds.

Life is a school, and the greatest lesson we can learn is how to love.
