Start Your Week With A Miracle

Dr. Warren W. Wiersbe | September 19, 1976

Selected highlights from this sermon

It’s so easy on a Sunday morning to be tempted to skip church and go back to bed. But the author of Hebrews calls believers to fellowship on the Lord’s day.

Pastor Wiersbe walks us through four considerations for when we are tempted to neglect our local church: Jesus, ourselves, others, and the unsaved world.

Transcripts for Dr. Wiersbe's sermons are forthcoming. Below is an outline of his message.

Today, it is very hard to tell Sunday apart from any other day of the week.

The early church held the first day of the week in high esteem and used it to worship the risen Christ.

The author of Hebrews calls believers to fellowship together on the Lord’s day.

Four considerations when you are tempted to stay home on Sunday morning:

  • Consider Jesus Christ
    • Consider what Jesus has done for us, is doing for us, wants to do for us, and will do for us.
    • We would not have a fellowship of believers if He had not died.
    • God saved us to fulfill a purpose nobody else could fill.
    • God is continually perfecting us to accomplish His will for our lives.
  • Consider yourself
    • We should be preparing ourselves to worship God throughout the week.
    • Worshipping with God’s people assures us of our faith and brings the blessings of God.
  • Consider other Christians
    • Believers need each other in order to live the Christian life.
    • We are called to provoke one another to love and good works, encouraging each other.
  • Consider the unsaved world
    • Going to church is a testimony to our neighbors.
    • We bear witness that Christ is coming back again.
