Life's Second Most Important Question

Dr. Warren W. Wiersbe | June 17, 1973

Selected highlights from this sermon

What is man? This is life’s second most important question. In Psalm 8, God says man is a king with dominion over creation.

In this message, Pastor Wiersbe shows us three different types of kings: Adam, David, and Jesus. Through faith in Jesus, we can reign as kings.

Transcripts for Dr. Wiersbe's sermons are forthcoming. Below is an outline of his message.

Life’s second most important question is: “what is man?”

The most important question is: “who is Jesus Christ?”

These questions can’t be separated because Jesus became man.

In Psalm 8, God says man is a king.

Man has dominion over creation.

We were created to live like kings.

Three kings that help us understand the kingship of man:

  • King Adam (Genesis 1)
    • God created man in His own image with dominion over the Earth.
    • God created us to be kings.
    • Adam was created for God’s glory.
    • God tested Adam’s ability to reign, and He failed.
    • Man’s heart and will are stubborn against God.
  • King Jesus
    • Jesus redeemed man to be kings.
  • King David (1 Samuel 17)
    • The Holy Spirit anointed man to be kings.
    • The Holy Spirit enables us to have dominion over sin.
    • David had the power of the Holy Spirit when he defeated Goliath.
    • Everyone faces some kind of Goliath.

Surrendering to the lordship of God allows for the glory of God.

By faith we reign in life.
