Enjoy these spiritual freedoms for God’s glory.
Human righteousness cannot fight against the devil.
Only Christ—fully man, fully God—can be the mediator between God and man. There isn’t a sinless Savior in any other religion.
For His glory, God takes the initiative in salvation.
I’m writing this on Wednesday morning. The election results have just been announced. It seems wise to reflect on how we as Christians ought to respond in this moment. Three main thoughts come to mind: First, if the candidate you voted for won, this is a good time to remember what Psalm 146:3 says, “Put not your trust in princes, in a son of man, in whom there is no salvation.” No matter how enthusiastic our support for a candidate, as followers of Jesus, our deepest and final trust is reserved for God alone. God’s will for our lives is usually quite clear through His Word.
Romans 8 is a declaration of spiritual freedom—a freedom which comes only through faith in Jesus Christ. In Christ, we have victory over sin, purpose in suffering, hope for the future, and eternal security. May we all rejoice in this freedom from condemnation!
Paul was not looking for Jesus, but God took the initiative to save him.
