The Moody Church Music Ministry is committed to facilitating worship, fellowship, encouragement, and outreach through a balanced program of music that includes expressions of both the ancient and modern, the eloquent and simple, and the familiar and new. We strive to prepare gatherings for worship that are Christ-exalting, life-transforming, and church unifying. Desiring more than just an inspiring or entertaining experience, we gather to hear the Word of God and respond to Him in worship and obedience.
We believe that the music we prepare each week is more than just another occasion to sing. As God’s people, we gather to honor the Lord with heart and voice, and to rehearse as a congregation the central truths of God’s Word. We want our service to reflect the grandeur of God’s majesty as well as His presence in each of our lives. Most of all, the eyes of our souls must move from concentrating on ourselves (idolatry) to gazing at the splendor of His holiness (true worship).
Grounded in the Pauline commissioning of psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs in musical worship, we adhere to a balanced worship format which includes aspects of each category (Ephesians 5:18-20). With The Moody Church’s ethnically, economically, and generationally diverse congregation, this philosophy fosters unity, linking the historic English language hymnody with theologically sound modern music.
